What is a Fiend?
“Fiend” is a broad word in tavern tales and frightened reports. It may describe a monstrous being, a feral creature, a thing glimpsed in darkness, or simply something terrible that no witness could properly name.
Among common folk, the word is often shaped more by fear than certainty.
Stories and Shadows
Travelers returning from lonely roads, forgotten ruins, storm-dark forests, or the depths of the Underdeep sometimes speak of terrible things. Some tales prove true. Others grow in the telling.
Whether every fiend is truly unnatural remains a matter of argument among scholars, hunters, and sailors alike.
